Black Pagoda in Patpong 2

If you have yet to check out Black Pagoda, located on what was once a walkway between two buildings up above Patpong soi 2 where sexy girls dance and put on a show for those below (see right), now is your chance. Black Pagoda has a new happy hour in place and from 7 until 9 pm it's just 100 baht for standard drinks, good value in what is a high end bar.

The Bus from the Suvarnabhumi Airport to Bangkok

To save money take the airport express bus located on the 2nd floor arrival hall near entrance 8 at Suvarnabhumi Airport.
There is a ticket office for the bus which only cost B150. The bus you should be getting on is number AE1.
The stop to get off on is next to the Montien Hotel, which is directly across Patpong red light district. The bus ride should take about 1 to 2 hours.

Taking a public taxi will cost nearly B350 including tolls and airport surcharge.

Sweetheart A Gogo in Pattaya

Sweetheart A Gogo on Walking Street is one of those gogo bars we've all walked past but I bet many, like me, have never been inside. A mate swung by this weekend, ordered a drink - priced at a fair 90 baht - and in something of a hurry, gulped it down and paid with a 100 baht note and added a 20 baht note, as a tip. He stood up and made for the door but was caught before he left, the service girl handing him 910 baht change.
He had inadvertently given her a one thousand baht note, thinking it was a 100. He made a point of mentioning this girl's honesty to the manager who stated that he would not allow any of his staff to rip off a guest for even 1 baht - and anyone caught doing so would be fired on the spot.
In an industry where the staff can get a lot of grief, I thought this was just marvelous - and I for one will drop by for a beer on my next visit to Pattaya.

More Druggings in Pattaya

Yet another Stickman reader was drugged this week, this time at a big name beer bar on Pattaya's Second Road. Fortunately he knew something was up and managed to make it back to his hotel room quickly, and alone, where he experienced all of the classic symptoms of being drugged.
He managed to sleep it off and eventually recovered with no loss other than one wasted holiday night. This shit is becoming widespread, prevalent in both Bangkok and Pattaya. It's a minefield out there.

Watchout for the Ladyboy Troll Near Soi Cowboy

There is a ladyboy who hangs out around the saphan loi in Bangkok most nights, waiting for drunks to come along. The bridge troll tries to follow them home. The troll (in spite of the nickname) is fairly cute and has a girlish voice. If you didn’t know about ladyboys you’d probably never guess. If you did know about them, but you were drunk enough you might be fooled.

I was drunk enough, but my radar still went off. When the bridge troll approached me I said quite directly that I don’t do ladyboys.

The troll still followed me. Up the bridge, across the bridge, and for perhaps two more blocks before he finally gave up and went back to guarding his bridge. It’s a sign how drunk I was that I let him follow me at all. Normally I would have shouted at him, and if that didn’t work, I would have punched him in the face. On Friday night (well, early Saturday morning) I actually spoke to him quite politely. Very unusual for me.

Asoke Place (Short Time) Near Soi Cowboy in Bangkok

For 300 odd baht you can rent a room at Asoke Place for three hours. Or you can stay longer for a bit more.
Longer stayers get better rooms than the short stayers.

Its only 1 minute away from Soi Cowboy, just walk from Cowboy into Soi 19 (the Country Road/ Tilac bar end) and turn right. Then its on the right, literally a few yards walk.

If you order drinks they give you a couple toothbrushes and toothpaste.
What more do you want after a few beer Changs?
